Product Overview

The Mitech XXQ-2005 is a high-performance portable X-ray flaw detector designed for non-destructive testing (NDT) of internal structural defects in metal and other solid materials. Utilizing the principle of X-ray absorption, this device reveals internal anomalies such as cracks, inclusions, and porosity by detecting differences in material thickness and density.

Its compact, inflatable-tube design, lightweight body, and user-friendly interface make it highly effective for on-site inspection work—even in harsh, elevated, or generator-powered environments. The XXQ-2005 provides high-definition imaging directly on X-ray film, enabling reliable long-term documentation and defect assessment.

Applications

The XXQ-2005 is widely used in:

  • Shipbuilding and marine structures

  • Aerospace and aviation industries

  • Railway and transport component inspections

  • Pressure vessel and boiler manufacturing

  • Oil and gas pipelines

  • Petrochemical and chemical processing

  • Machinery manufacturing

  • National defense and military production

Working Principle

The device operates by generating X-rays that pass through the test object. Areas with different thicknesses or densities absorb the rays differently. These variations are captured on a special radiographic film that, after development, visually displays internal flaws as contrast differences.

The system uses a silicon-controlled rectifier (SCR) and a single-phase bridge rectifier to convert AC to DC. A high-voltage pulse is generated using a thyristor chopper and sent to the X-ray tube, where high-speed electrons strike the anode to emit X-rays. These rays pass through the material and imprint an image on the X-ray film enhanced with lead foil.

Key Features

  • microcomputer-controlled system for precision and operational efficiency

  • compact and lightweight for convenient field use

  • automatic over-temperature shutdown to protect internal components

  • pulse-regulated current control (mA) for stable X-ray intensity

  • continuously adjustable tube voltage (kV) to meet varying material needs

  • built-in anti-interference circuitry to stabilize performance

  • automatic fault code display for quick troubleshooting

  • enforced 1:1 operation-to-rest duty cycle for system longevity

  • delayed high-voltage start for operator safety

  • isolated high-voltage system for safe, reliable operation

  • compatible with generator-powered setups for remote use

Operating Environment

  • operating temperature: -25°C to 40°C

  • relative humidity: ≤ 85%

  • safe operating pressure: 0.35–0.50 MPa

  • do not operate below 0.35 MPa

Operating Instructions

  • turn on the device and wait for initialization (approx. 15 seconds)

  • set exposure time, kV, and mA according to the material under inspection

  • warm up the tube before initial exposure to ensure vacuum stability

  • press “HV ON” to initiate delayed high-voltage output

  • after exposure, the system will automatically shut down and enter rest mode

  • develop X-ray film and inspect for flaw indications

Troubleshooting & Maintenance

Do not disassemble or repair the unit. Contact Mitech’s authorized service team for any issues.

Common faults and solutions:

  • no display or fan: possible cable disconnection, faulty switch, or blown 3A fuse

  • error code “LA”: no tube current; may be caused by poor connection or blown 20A fuse

  • error code “HA”: overcurrent protection triggered

  • error code “PU”: overvoltage detected

  • error code “PT”: unit overheated

  • fuse blows or loud buzzer on HV activation: internal air pressure may be too low, or generator/controller failure

  • electric leakage: check for grounding issues or insulation damage

The Mitech XXQ-2005 is an effective and dependable X-ray flaw detection solution built to meet the rigorous demands of industrial NDT.
