  • Operates up to 30 hours on two AA batteries

  • Compact and lightweight design with IP65-rated casing

Applications

  • Corrosion monitoring of pipelines, pressure vessels, and tanks

  • Structural inspection in aerospace, shipbuilding, and offshore industries

  • Sheet metal thickness measurement in production and quality control

  • Measurement of non-metallic materials such as plastics, ceramics, and composites

  • Ideal for both field and laboratory applications

Working Principle

The MT600 operates using ultrasonic pulse technology. It sends a high-frequency sound wave into the material and measures the time taken for the echo to return. Thickness is calculated using:

H = (V × T) / 2

Where:
H = Measured thickness
V = Sound velocity in the material
T = Round-trip time of the ultrasonic pulse

Echo-Echo mode filters out coating thickness, measuring only the base material underneath.

Measurement Considerations

  • For pipe thickness, align the probe perpendicular to the axis for pipes larger than 4 inches

  • Use high-temp probes and calibrate accordingly when measuring hot surfaces above 100℃

  • Calibrate for each batch when measuring laminated materials

  • Use a proper couplant for ultrasonic transmission, such as water, glycerin, silicone oil, or high-temperature couplants

  • Be aware of potential false readings due to second echo reflections; verify results for accuracy

Maintenance & Care

  • Clean the unit with a soft, damp cloth—avoid solvents or abrasive materials

  • Charge batteries fully before first use and after extended storage

  • Replace batteries if operating time decreases significantly

  • Store in a clean, dry place away from magnetic fields, corrosive agents, or dust

  • Do not disassemble the device—contact an authorized service center for any repairs
