Product Overview

The Mitech MHV-1Z is a micro Vickers hardness tester designed with an automatic turret system that enables seamless switching between the indenter and the microscope lens. This feature enhances operational efficiency, especially for repetitive testing tasks. Based on the Vickers indentation method, the instrument uses a diamond pyramid-shaped indenter to produce a micro-impression, and then calculates hardness by measuring the diagonals of the indentation.

Combining high-magnification optical technology, precision photoelectric sensors, and a large LCD screen, the MHV-1Z offers accurate, clear, and easy-to-operate hardness testing. It is well-suited for research laboratories, quality control environments, and educational institutions that require reliable testing on small, thin, or heat-treated materials.

Working Principle

The Vickers hardness testing method involves applying a specific force to a diamond pyramid-shaped indenter pressed into the specimen’s surface. After maintaining the load for a set time, the force is removed, and the two diagonals of the resulting indentation are measured. The Vickers hardness value (HV) is calculated using the following formula:

HV ≈ 0.1891 × F / d²

Where:

  • HV = Vickers hardness value

  • F = Applied test force (in newtons)

  • d = Average of the two diagonals of the indentation (in millimeters)

The Mitech MHV-1Z provides a user-friendly, efficient, and accurate solution for micro-hardness testing across various industrial and academic applications.
