Product Overview

The Mitech MSW20 Series Digital Display Webster Hardness Meter—comprising models MSW-20, MSW-20a, and MSW-20b—is a lightweight, handheld instrument designed for fast and non-destructive testing of aluminum and its alloys. This clamp-type hardness tester features a digital display for clearer readings and greater operational convenience.

Designed for quick hardness inspection without requiring material samples, it is suitable for on-site testing in quality control, acceptance inspection, and production line environments. Commonly used in aluminum processing industries and companies producing windows, doors, and curtain walls, the MSW20 series is a valuable tool for improving product pass rates and reducing inspection costs.

Key Features

  • Compact and lightweight design, easy to operate with one hand

  • Fast, non-destructive hardness testing of aluminum alloys without sampling

  • Easy to use, requires minimal training or operator skill

  • Effective for testing oversized or heavy workpieces

  • Suitable for irregularly shaped aluminum profiles

  • Digital display is more readable than traditional analog gauges

  • Separate detection and display system prevents obstruction during field use

  • Allows setting of acceptable hardness ranges for quick pass/fail judgment

  • Enhances efficiency in batch inspection and quality screening

  • Essential for aluminum manufacturing, construction material inspection, and field engineering quality control

Applications

  • On-site hardness testing of aluminum profiles

  • Quality inspection for windows, doors, and curtain wall production

  • Verification of material heat treatment or alloy composition

  • Rapid NDT (non-destructive testing) in production lines

  • Technical supervision in engineering inspection departments

  • Acceptance testing for aluminum suppliers

Working Principle

The MSW20 series operates based on the indentation principle. When pressure is applied, the size of the indentation is inversely proportional to the hardness of the material. The Webster hardness value (HW) is read directly from the display—16 HW indicates a hardness of 16 on the Webster scale. If the sample’s hardness exceeds the range, the needle points to 20; if it’s too soft, the needle remains at 0. The value can be converted to Vickers (HV) or Rockwell (HR) as needed.
