Product Overview

The Mitech MW-B75 is a portable Webster hardness tester specifically engineered for testing aluminum and soft alloy materials. Designed for non-destructive, fast field testing, it operates using a clamp-type mechanism, enabling one-handed use without the need to cut or prepare samples. It is ideal for quality control tasks on-site and during production processes.

Widely used in aluminum-related industries such as manufacturing of windows, doors, and curtain walls, the MW-B75 helps improve product consistency, verify heat treatment, and detect incorrect alloy usage. Its robust build and simple operation make it an essential tool for production engineers and inspection teams.

Instrument Features

  • Corrosion-resistant body that remains accurate even after 4 hours in a 5% saltwater environment

  • Impact-resistant design that maintains calibration after 100 drop tests from a height of 0.5 meters

  • Lightweight and compact form, enabling easy single-hand operation for quick testing in the field

  • Non-destructive testing with no sample removal or surface damage

  • Simple and intuitive to use—no professional skill level required

  • Suitable for different shapes and sizes of aluminum components

  • Separate dial and handle construction for unobstructed viewing during use

  • Supplied with calibration blocks for error checking and routine recalibration

Applications

  • Verifying whether aluminum parts have been properly heat-treated

  • Checking alloy consistency and identifying incorrect compositions

  • Testing long or heavy components not suitable for conventional bench testers

  • On-site inspections in aluminum production environments

  • Quality control in industries producing windows, doors, and architectural frameworks

  • Engineering acceptance testing and routine inspection in construction projects

Working Principle

The MW-B75 is based on the mechanical indentation principle. A spring-loaded indenter presses into the surface of the material. The resulting indentation depth is inversely proportional to the material’s hardness. The device provides direct readings in Webster Hardness (HW) on an analog dial.

  • Reading 0 HW indicates soft material or improper positioning

  • Reading 20 HW is the upper limit of the scale

  • Values can be converted to other hardness scales such as Vickers (HV) or Rockwell (HR) using standard conversion tables

Specifications

  • Measuring Range: 0–20 HW

  • Resolution Accuracy: 0.1 HW

  • Main Unit Weight: 0.5 kg

  • Package Dimensions: 29.5 × 21.5 × 12 cm

  • Total Weight (with packaging): 1.5 kg

  • Working Time: Not applicable (mechanical operation)

  • Communication/Storage: Not applicable

Operating Instructions and Safety Precautions

  • Ensure the surface of the specimen is clean and properly positioned between the anvil and indenter

  • Press the handle until it reaches the end of its travel—this ensures the correct testing force

  • Read the dial while keeping the handle stable

  • Do not apply excessive pressure or twist the sample during testing

  • Avoid testing without a sample, which may wear down the indicator pointer

  • Store the device in a dry, secure place when not in use

  • Use only the provided calibration blocks for accuracy checks

The Mitech MW-B75 Webster Hardness Tester is a durable, user-friendly, and highly efficient tool for real-time hardness assessment in aluminum processing industries, offering both reliability and convenience in a compact form.
