Mitech XXG2005 Inflatable X-ray Flaw Detector

High-Performance Portable X-ray Inspection for Industrial NDT

The Mitech XXG2005 is a professional-grade inflatable X-ray flaw detector designed for non-destructive testing (NDT) applications in demanding industrial environments. Utilizing the principle of X-ray absorption through materials of different densities and thicknesses, this portable system can detect internal defects such as cracks, voids, and inclusions with high precision. Its compact design, advanced features, and robust build make it suitable for on-site inspections, particularly in high-altitude or confined areas.

This system produces sharp radiographic images on film, allowing for in-depth evaluation and long-term documentation of internal structural flaws in metal components, welded joints, and other industrial parts.

Key Features

  • compact and lightweight for field deployment

  • microcomputer-controlled interface for precise operation

  • over-temperature protection to safeguard the X-ray tube

  • stable X-ray output with independent control of mA and kV

  • built-in anti-interference circuit for reliable performance in variable environments

  • automatic fault display with error codes for quick diagnostics

  • delayed start function for enhanced operator safety

  • isolated control and high-voltage systems to improve operational reliability

  • power compatibility with fluctuating voltage sources for versatility

Applications

The Mitech XXG2005 is widely used in the following industries:

  • shipbuilding and marine structure inspections

  • aerospace and aviation component testing

  • railway maintenance and rolling stock evaluation

  • machinery and metal fabrication quality control

  • pressure vessel and boiler safety testing

  • petrochemical and chemical processing plants

  • oil and gas pipeline inspection

  • national defense and military manufacturing

  • construction and high-altitude industrial sites

It is particularly useful for weld inspection, internal casting defect detection, and general structural integrity assessments.

Working Principle

The detector works by generating high-voltage X-rays that pass through the test material. As the rays encounter different material densities and thicknesses, their intensity is reduced, producing contrast on a special X-ray film. This image highlights internal discontinuities, which can be analyzed after development. The system employs a silicon-controlled rectifier and pulse transformer to create high-voltage pulses for X-ray generation inside a sealed tube.

Technical Specifications

  • working temperature: -25℃ to +40℃

  • relative humidity: ≤ 85%

  • safe operating pressure: 0.35–0.50 MPa
(do not operate below 0.35 MPa)

  • package dimensions:

    • box 1: 40.5 × 40 × 72.5 cm

    • box 2: 47 × 47 × 33 cm

  • total system weight: approximately 45–80 kg (including all components and packaging)

  • additional specifications such as measuring range, resolution, and storage capacity vary by configuration and are available on request

Operation Guide

  • power on: starts the control system, cooling fan, and safety indicators

  • set exposure time: use the control dial to choose exposure duration

  • warm-up: preheat the unit for optimal vacuum tube performance

  • adjust kV level: set the kilovoltage according to material type and thickness

  • start exposure: press the HV button to emit X-rays and begin countdown

  • cooling cycle: after exposure, the system cools down before the next use

  • delayed start: hold HV button for 3 seconds to activate delay (0.1 to 5 minutes) for operator safety

Safety Notes

  • always use 2 mm thick lead shielding or maintain a 20-meter safe distance during operation

  • ensure the air pressure is above 0.35 MPa before use

  • properly ground the control unit to avoid electrical hazards

  • do not interrupt power during cooling phases

  • use only specialized X-ray films and lead foil screens for best results

The Mitech XXG2005 offers a reliable and efficient solution for industrial X-ray inspections, especially where mobility, accuracy, and durability are essential. It ensures safety compliance, structural integrity, and long-term asset reliability through dependable flaw detection in the field or in challenging work environments.
