Mitech XXQ-1005 X-ray Flaw Detector

Rp123

The Mitech XXQ-1005 is a compact and portable X-ray flaw detector designed for non-destructive testing (NDT) of internal flaws in metals and various other materials. It works by analyzing differences in X-ray absorption due to variations in material thickness or composition, producing high-contrast images on special radiographic film. These images allow operators to accurately evaluate structural integrity without damaging or disassembling the test object.

Portable X-ray Testing System for Internal Defect Detection

The Mitech XXQ-1005 is a compact and portable X-ray flaw detector designed for non-destructive testing (NDT) of internal flaws in metals and various other materials. It works by analyzing differences in X-ray absorption due to variations in material thickness or composition, producing high-contrast images on special radiographic film. These images allow operators to accurately evaluate structural integrity without damaging or disassembling the test object.

With its lightweight design, the XXQ-1005 is ideal for field inspections, especially in difficult environments such as construction sites, high altitudes, and remote areas. Its ease of use and reliable performance make it a practical solution for quality assurance, safety inspections, and defect evaluation across numerous industries.

Key Features

  • portable and lightweight, easy to deploy in the field

  • integrated microcomputer control system for precision and ease of operation

  • delayed high-voltage start for enhanced operator safety

  • over-temperature protection system that shuts down the unit to prevent damage

  • automatic current and voltage stabilization for consistent image quality

  • error code display for fast diagnosis and maintenance

  • isolated high-voltage design to ensure safe operation

  • compatible with standard and generator-powered environments

  • optimized for harsh, elevated, or remote work conditions

Applications

The Mitech XXQ-1005 is widely used in:

  • shipbuilding and marine engineering

  • mechanical and machinery manufacturing

  • aerospace and aviation maintenance

  • railway systems and infrastructure

  • pressure vessel and boiler inspections

  • oil, gas, and petrochemical industries

  • military and defense production

It is particularly effective for inspecting:

  • weld seams and joints

  • metal castings and structural components

  • high-pressure systems requiring internal flaw detection

Working Principle

The system emits high-energy X-rays that pass through the test object. Differences in thickness or density cause variations in absorption, which are captured on X-ray-sensitive film placed behind the object. The resulting image clearly shows any internal defects such as cracks, porosity, or inclusions.

The XXQ-1005 uses a silicon-controlled rectifier and high-voltage transformer to generate pulses that excite the X-ray tube. The radiation output is directed through the material, where it is absorbed at different rates. These variations create contrast on the radiographic film, which can be developed and analyzed to assess internal quality.

Operation Guidelines

  • power on the device; it enters standby mode in 15 seconds

  • set exposure time using the control knob

  • perform warm-up to stabilize the vacuum inside the X-ray tube

  • adjust voltage (kV) to suit the material under inspection

  • press “HV ON” to begin X-ray generation and countdown

  • after exposure, the system stops automatically and enters a cooling phase

Delay Function Setup:

  • press and hold “HV ON” for 3 seconds

  • set delay time (0.1 to 5 minutes)

  • release to save and begin countdown

  • to cancel, restart or set delay to “00”

Safety Instructions

  • always use proper shielding (e.g., 2 mm lead plate)

  • maintain a 20-meter safety radius without shielding

  • verify that air pressure is above 0.35 MPa before operation

  • ensure the system is properly grounded

  • avoid disconnecting power during rest mode

  • follow all safety protocols for radiation equipment

Maintenance Tips

  • if no display or fan: check power supply, fuse, and cables

  • if error codes appear:

    • “LA” = low current

    • “HA” = high current

    • “PU” = overvoltage

    • “PT” = overtemperature

  • if fuse blows or buzzer sounds: check for tube or controller fault

  • if current leakage occurs: inspect grounding and insulation
