The Mitech XXQ-1605 is a portable inflatable X-ray flaw detector specifically designed for nondestructive testing (NDT) applications in industrial environments. It operates by measuring X-ray absorption variations in materials of differing thicknesses and densities, making it possible to detect internal flaws such as cracks, porosity, and inclusions.

Mitech XXQ-1605 X-ray Flaw Detector

Portable High-Precision X-ray System for Nondestructive Testing

The Mitech XXQ-1605 is a portable inflatable X-ray flaw detector specifically designed for nondestructive testing (NDT) applications in industrial environments. It operates by measuring X-ray absorption variations in materials of differing thicknesses and densities, making it possible to detect internal flaws such as cracks, porosity, and inclusions.

With its lightweight structure, compact size, and reliable performance, the XXQ-1605 is ideal for use in harsh or elevated field environments. It produces high-definition radiographic images on film, providing accurate visualization of defects in welded joints, castings, and complex structural components. The device is widely used in industries such as shipbuilding, aerospace, machinery manufacturing, railways, pressure vessels, and national defense.

Functions and Applications

This X-ray detector is suitable for examining:

  • weld seams

  • metal castings

  • pressure vessel components

  • structural and mechanical parts

Applicable across industries including:

  • shipbuilding

  • aviation and aerospace

  • railway systems

  • machinery manufacturing

  • oil and gas pipelines

  • chemical and petrochemical plants

  • boiler inspection

  • national defense and military sectors

Key Features

  • microcomputer control system for enhanced precision and ease of use

  • compact and lightweight for easy field deployment

  • automatic high-voltage shutoff when internal temperature exceeds limits

  • stable output control through regulated filament voltage and pulse frequency

  • adjustable tube voltage (kV) for different testing requirements

  • anti-interference circuit design to minimize voltage-related disruptions

  • automatic fault detection with digital code display

  • strict 1:1 duty cycle to preserve equipment life and safety

  • delayed high-voltage start feature for operator protection

  • isolated high-voltage circuitry for safer operation

  • compatible with generator-powered setups and unstable power grids

Technical Specifications

  • model: XXQ-1605

  • operating temperature: -25°C to +40°C

  • relative humidity: ≤ 85%

  • safe operating pressure: 0.35 – 0.50 MPa

  • total weight: 45–80 kg

  • package dimensions:

    • case 1: 40.5 × 40 × 72.5 cm

    • case 2: 47 × 47 × 33 cm

  • imaging method: X-ray film exposure

  • power: suitable for grid or generator use

  • display: digital interface with exposure time and status indicators

Operating Instructions

  • switch on the unit and wait approximately 15 seconds for system initialization

  • set exposure time and allow the system to warm up to ensure tube vacuum stability

  • adjust kV and mA values based on material thickness and inspection requirements

  • press “HV ON” to activate the delayed high-voltage start (delay time adjustable)

  • after the countdown, X-ray exposure begins and automatically ends after the set time

  • allow for a rest period equal to the exposure time (1:1 ratio) before next use

Maintenance and Troubleshooting

Do not attempt internal repairs. For maintenance, contact Mitech service support. Common problems and solutions include:

  • no display or fan inactive: check cables, power switch, or 3A fuse

  • error code “LA”: no current; may be due to poor cable connection or blown fuse

  • error code “HA”: overcurrent detected

  • error code “PU”: overvoltage condition

  • error code “PT”: overheating

  • loud buzzing or 20A fuse blown: likely generator or controller issue, or low internal air pressure

  • electrical leakage: verify grounding and cable insulation

Safety Guidelines

  • always use appropriate shielding (e.g., 2 mm lead plate)

  • maintain a safety radius of at least 20 meters when shielding is not used

  • check and maintain internal air pressure (minimum 0.35 MPa)

  • do not power off the unit during rest cycles to allow the cooling fan to operate

  • follow safety procedures for radiation equipment and monitor environmental conditions during operation

The Mitech XXQ-1605 provides a reliable, safe, and efficient solution for internal flaw detection, making it a valuable tool for inspectors and technicians in the field.
