Mitech XXQ-2505 Portable X-Ray Flaw Detector
Product Overview
The Mitech XXQ-2505 is a portable X-ray flaw detector developed for high-precision non-destructive testing (NDT) in industrial environments. It identifies internal defects—such as cracks, voids, and inclusions—by measuring X-ray absorption differences in materials of varying thickness and density. Its inflatable tube design, lightweight construction, and user-friendly interface make it particularly well-suited for on-site inspections, even in challenging or high-altitude conditions.
The system captures high-resolution images on specialized X-ray film, offering clear visual representations of internal flaws. These images can be preserved for long-term analysis and are not affected by surface roughness or grain structure, making this unit highly versatile across different materials and applications.
Functions and Applications
Commonly used in:
-
Shipbuilding
-
Machinery manufacturing
-
Aerospace and railways
-
Pressure vessel and boiler inspection
-
Oil, gas, and chemical plants
-
Military and defense applications
Suitable for detecting internal flaws in:
-
Weld seams
-
Metal castings
-
Structural components
Working Principle
The XXQ-2505 generates X-rays through a high-voltage circuit powered by a silicon-controlled rectifier and thyristor chopper. These X-rays penetrate the test object and are absorbed at different rates depending on the material’s thickness and composition. The unabsorbed rays are captured on X-ray film, which, once developed, displays the defect locations and their characteristics.

Operation Guidelines
-
power on the unit; the display shows “HH” and the fan activates
-
after 15 seconds, set exposure time using the rotary knob
-
preheat the tube to stabilize vacuum conditions
-
adjust tube voltage (kV) to match inspection material
-
press “HV” to begin exposure; countdown begins automatically
-
once complete, the system shuts down high voltage and enters a cooling period before standby
Delay Start Setup:
-
press and hold “HV” for 3 seconds to set delay (0.1–5 minutes)
-
indicators flash and buzzer sounds
-
system starts automatically when delay ends
To cancel delay:
Safety Notes
-
always use 2 mm lead plate or equivalent shielding during operation
-
maintain a 20-meter safety radius if shielding is not available
-
ensure internal pressure is at least 0.35 MPa
-
verify proper grounding of the controller unit
-
keep cables and connectors clean and secure
-
do not power off the unit during rest cycles to allow fan cooling
-
minor voltage fluctuations may trigger safety shutdowns; this is not a malfunction
The Mitech XXQ-2505 is an effective, field-ready solution for internal defect detection in critical industrial components, combining safety, clarity, and operational flexibility in one compact device.
