Operating Principle

The MFD550B functions using the ultrasonic pulse-echo method. A high-frequency sound wave is sent into the material, and when it encounters a boundary or defect, part of the wave reflects back. By measuring the time of flight and amplitude of the echo, the device calculates the location and size of the flaw.

Usage Tips

  • Always calibrate the unit using standard test blocks before inspections

  • Use appropriate couplants like glycerin or ultrasonic gel for signal transmission

  • Store and operate the device in clean, dry, and non-corrosive environments

  • Review recorded videos for post-inspection analysis and training purposes

  • Back up stored data regularly using USB for reporting and record keeping
